He is the founder and Chairman and CEO of News Corporation, the world's second-largest media conglomerate. He bought various newspapers in Australia and New Zealand, then into the UK taking over the 'News of the World' and then 'The Sun'. He decided to then expand into the US market and became a US citizen in 1985. He then bought "The Times", "Twentieth Century Fox" & "The Wall Street Journal" By 2000 "News Corporation" owned over 800 companies in more than 50 countries.
In America alone he owns: The Fox Broadcasting Company (Basically every Fox affiliated channels including Fox) San Antonio Express, The New York Post, 34% stake in Hughes Electronics (the operator of DirecTV & General Motors), MySpace, not to mention Dow Jones (meaning also the Wall Street Journal, Barron's Magazine, the Far Eastern Economic Review and SmartMoney).
